New data from CHACE shows Virginians support housing affordability

The​ ​Campaign​ ​for​ ​Housing​ ​and​ ​Civic​ ​Engagement​ ​(CHACE), with the ​Judy​ ​Ford​ ​Wason​ ​Center​ ​for​ ​Public​ ​Policy​ ​at​ ​Christopher​ ​Newport​ ​University, have released the results of their public opinion survey about affordable housing and energy efficiency, and the results should be encouraging to housing advocates statewide. Some interesting points:

  • ​82%​ ​of​ ​voters​ ​strongly​ ​believe​ ​that​ ​people​ ​who​ ​work​ ​in​ ​their​ ​community​ ​should​ ​be​ ​able​ ​to find​ ​a​ ​home​ ​there.​ ​
  • 56%​ ​of​ ​voters​ ​agree​ ​that​ ​housing​ ​affordability​ ​is​ ​vital​ ​to​ ​their​ ​community’s​ ​economic​ ​success.
  • 79.4% of voters said having an adequate supply of housing options was important of very important to them.
