Seminary Road
In January 2024, Housing Alexandria began construction on an affordable homeownership community and expanded service space for Sheltered Homes of Alexandria, who provide housing and services for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Housing Alexandria will use a shared equity homeownership model to ensure that these homes remain affordable in perpetuity. Homes will be priced for households making up to 80% of the Area Median Income. This community includes:
- 36 homeownership units (31 townhomes, and 5 condominium flats which will be single story and elevator accessible)
- 3 flats owned and occupied by Sheltered Homes of Alexandria (SHA), serving up to 12 residents
- 2 garage spaces per townhome, plus 19 surface parking spaces (for SHA, condominium flats occupants, as well as guests)
Site Plan:
- 48% of the site will be open space, including 7,900 SF of preserved tree canopy
- Final plan will provide 56% of site with tree canopy coverage (above required 25%)
- Complete avoidance of an “isolated wetland of minimal ecological value”
